Thinking Private Ice ???
We are currently at Stage 2, of Ringette Ontario's "Return to Ringette Guidelines.
This means we have successfully achieved all of the requirements to move to that stage. Timmins Ringette has created a Return to Ringette working group who are diligently working on meeting all of the requirements to move to Stage 3 (return to modified gameplay).
We want to ensure that there are no obstacles in this achievement and want to share some recommendations we received to ensure that nothing can stop us from making it onto the ice as soon as possible!
We know that it may be tempting to book ice, now that the arenas have availability for private bookings, however, in order to protect Timmins Ringette Association from any negative repercussions from Ringette Ontario as we work towards Stage 3.
🔵 Private ice bookings must not be booked using Association emails, signature panels or intimated as a "team" event (i.e. a coach using their team email, etc.)
🔵 Organizers must not identify themselves as a member of Timmins Ringette Association and/or Ringette Ontario to either the people that they are organizing the ice for OR the ice facility.
🔵 It must be expressly stressed that this is not a sanctioned ringette event and as such will not be covered by RO insurance so that everyone is fully aware of the risks they are taking
🔵 Association jerseys, Ringette Ontario gear and/or identifying equipment should not be worn by officials, coaches and/or players during any unsanctioned event.
While we do not encourage or condone private ice bookings, we cannot deny that they are happening. Because of this, it is imperative that our Timmins Ringette Association mitigate their risk and are take precautions against the perception of being involved in any unsanctioned activities being organized by members on private ice.
