U12A Team Winds Up Season In Hamilton

Apr. 21, 2022

The U12A Timmins Tornadoes participated in their final tournament of the season Easter weekend in Hamilton. This groups of young players worked tirelessly all season to hone their ringette skills to be able to compete against the best in the province. The Tornadoes first game was against their regional rivals, the Sault Ste. Marie IceHawks. Both teams were familiar with each other having played three previous games against one another. It was a closely contested game but the IceHawks edge the Tornadoes 6 to 4.

The second games was against Oshawa. Once again, the Tornadoes came out strong, out shooting their opponents but were unable to score. Oshawa weathered the storm and came back strong in the second period and beat the Tornadoes 4 to 2.

In the final game of the tournament, the Tornadoes faced Cambridge. With a victory over the Tornadoes, Cambridge could punch their ticket to the finals. The young players from Timmins wanted to play spoiler and played their best game of the tournament. They came out fast and were able to maintain the pace throughout the whole game and secured the victory. Timmins won their last game 6 to 3. With a 3-way tie for second, it came down to tie break scenarios. Both Timmins and Oshawa had the same goals for/against therefore the deciding factor were penalty minutes. Oshawa had fewer penalty minutes, and therefore advanced to the finals to face the Sault.

The coaching staff, parents and volunteers are very proud of this groups of young ladies. We look forward seeing them grow and progress throughout the next few years.
