This past weekend the U14A Timmins Tornadoes took to the ice in Whitby for their second tournament of the season. After a relaxing holiday break, the Tornadoes were happy to return to ringette.
In their first game, they took on the Sault Ice Hawks. This was the first time both played one another and both teams came out to win. The Tornadoes took control of the game and never gave up their lead finishing the game 5 to 3 for their first win of 2023. In their next game, the U14s took on West Ottawa. Both teams had played each other before so they knew what to expect from one another. The Tornadoes battled hard but ultimately lost the game 8 to 3.
On Saturday, the Tornadoes took on one of the best teams in Ontario from Forest. The girls battle hard but lost the game 7 to 3. In their final game of the tournament they took on Sunderland. Both teams had played each other in a previous tournament and the game was one of the best games of the tournament. Sunderland jumped out early scoring 3 goals while Timmins was able to score 1 in the first period to finish the period 3-1. In the second Timmins was able to score to make the game 3-2. Timmins pressed and dominated most of the second period but were unable to score and lost 3-2.
The coaches and staff are still very proud of the girls and see a lot of progress. The Tornadoes are now setting their eyes on Provincials in March, with a stop in Guelph in February. They hope to continue to grow as a team and get better everyday.
