The U14A Timmins Tornadoes competed in their third tournament of the year in Guelph this past weekend. Their first game was against their northern rivals, the Sault Ice Hawks. This was a back-and-forth game, but the Ice Hawks secured the win. In their second game the Tornadoes played Cambridge. The Tornadoes were able to secure their first win of the weekend with a 5 to 2 victory. On Saturday, the U14s played Mississauga. The girls played a great game and won the game 5 to 3. In their final game of the round robin the Tornadoes played Barrie. This game was a nail-biter, but the Tornadoes won the game 6 to 5. With 3 wins in the round robin, the Tornadoes secured their place in the semi finals. On Sunday morning the Tornadoes played Mitchell. The girls fought hard but were not able to overcome the pressure that Mitchell kept applying. The team lost the game 9 to 3. It was a great learning experience and now the girls shift their focus to the Provincial Championships in March.
