What a great weekend at the Greater Sudbury Ringette Association tournament September 24-26, 2023. TRA had 6 teams competing this weekend and brought hoem one silver and two gold medals !!
Fun 3 (U10)
TRA's Fun 3 (U10) had a lot of fun in their first tournament of the year. They tried hard but were ultimately beat out on their games 3-9 against Greater Sudbury Gosselin, 2-9 against Walden Spruce, 3-6 against Greater Sudbury Diotte. These players learnt a lot about the game, made lasting memories with their teammates, and gave it their all for what was the first tournament experience for many of these players.
U12A
The U12A team has a great first tournament. Their first game was a nail-biting match against West Ferris ending with an 8-7 victory. The second game was against Sault Ste. Marie Ice Hawks, it was a tough challenge and ended with a loss 0-5. Finishing strong, the team won their third game winning 4-2 against Sudbury. This team showed great teamwork and determination throughout the weekend.
U12B
The U12B team displayed remarkable sportsmanship throughout the weekend. Their first game was a challenging match against West Ottawa Chamberlain where they faced a 0-7 defeat. Shaking of their nerves from the first game the U12B team came back strong for their second game against Greater Sudbury Lefrancois edging them out for a 5-4 win. This team fought hard for their final game against Walden Malinowski but came out with a loss 2-5.
U14B
The Timmins U14B had a great tournament playing 4 games and coming out with a silver medal! Their first game was challenging against Clarence Rockland Falcons-Ouellet, resulting in a 1-7 defeat. After shaking off their first game jitters, the team secured a win 7-5 in their second game against Walden Richer. The U14B team was able to edge our Greater Sudbury Russell 5-4 for in their third game securing a spot in the finals. Despite a hard-fought effort in the finals game the Timmins team fell short against Clarence Rockland Falcons Ouellet claiming the silver metal.
U16A
The Timmins U16A team had a triumphant weekend, dominating their division in a series of five games coming out on top with a gold metal! They kicked off their winning streak with their first game against West Ferris winning 9-2. Their second game was another win against Waterloo Wildfires 9-2. For their third game they delivered an 8-1 win over Walden Minto securing a spot in semi-finals. Timmins showed exceptional teamwork in the semi-finals winning with a shutout game over West Ferris 7-0. The team culminated their outstanding performance with an impressive 10-3 win over the Waterloo Wildfire taking home a gold medal.
18+B
Timmins 18+B team had a triumphant weekend coming out on top with a gold medal. They started off the weekend strong with a shutout win 5-0 against Greater Sudbury Spence. Their second game was a closely contested match securing a narrow 3-2 win against Greater Sudbury Sohm. For their third game they lost 3-4 for a tightly fought battle against Greater Sudbury Tocholke. The third game loss secured them a second chance against Greater Sudbury Tocholke in the finals and Timmins came back strong with an impressive performance winning a gold metal in a shutout game 7-0.
