Timmins Teams Go Big In Whitby

This past weekend, January 5-7, Timmins Tornadoes U12A, U14A, U16A and U19A had a great showing at the Whitby Ringette Tournament. It came down to hard-fought battles against Forest Xtreme teams in every division with the Association going home in first and third! 🥇🥉   
 
U12A
The Timmins Tornadoes U12A team had a triumphant weekend, dominating their division in a series of five games coming out on top with a gold metal! 🥇  Their first game against the Sunderland Stingers yielded a 6-2 win. The second game against Forest Xtreme was a tough match with Forest Xtreme scoring 4 goals in the first period, U12A Tornadoes didn’t let that discourage them as they answered back with 3 good goals of their own in the second period, not quite enough for a win but a valiant effort. Tornadoes dominated game 3 against Whitby Wild with a 5-3 win. Tornadoes played Whitby Wild again in the semi-finals winning 5-1, securing their place in the finals for a rematch against their competitors Forest Xtreme. The final game was a nail-biting match were the Tornadoes ultimately beat out Forest Xtreme 5-4 securing a gold medal win. 
 
U14A
The Timmins Tornadoes U14A team had a rocky start to the tournament losing their first 2 games against Ottawa Ice and Forest Xtreme 2-5 and 3-5 respectively. These players didn’t let a rocky first day keep them down, they came back winning game 3 against Guelph by shut out 6-0. Game 4 against Gloucester Cumberland Devils was another win for the Tornadoes 7-2 securing a 3rd place spot in the semi finals. In the semi finals the Tornadoes got a do over against Ottawa Ice, ending with a win 5-2, sending them to the finals with another shot against Forest Xtreme. The Finals game was a nail-biting match going into over time where the Tornadoes ultimately won gold 🥇 with a 5-4 win.   
 
 
U16A
The Timmins Tornadoes U16A team had a strong start to the tournament winning their first game against Ajax Pickering Power 9-2. Their second game against West Ottawa was a tough one ending with a loss 4-5. This team didn’t let a loss dampen their spirits coming back with a win for game 3 against Barrie Blizzard 6-1 and a win for game 4 against Forest Xtreme 1-0 securing their spot in the semi finals. The Tornadoes faced off against Forest Xtreme again in the semi finals, it was a hard fight, but Forest Xtreme ultimately moved on to the finals and the Tornadoes finished with a loss 2-5 ending the tournament in a well-deserved 3rd place. 🥉
 
U19A
The Timmins Tornadoes U19A team had a great tournament coming out on top with a gold metal 🥇 !  Their first game was against Upper Ottawa Valley where they played strong achieving a 4-1 win. Game 2 was a tough match against the Richmond Hill Lightnings were the Tornadoes edged them out 6-5. For game 3 they continued their winning streak delivering an 8-2 win over the London Lynx. Game 4 proved to be a challenge against Forest Xtreme, it was a close game but resulted in a loss 2-3. In the semi finals the Tornadoes faced off against Richmond Hill Lightnings again, resulting in a win 4-2 sending them into the finals. The finals saw the Tornadoes go up against Forest Xtreme once more and the Tornadoes came back strong resulting in a win 4-3 and well-deserved gold medal
