TRA At Northeast Regionals

FUN1 / FUN2 Division

The Fun1/2 teams had a great time at the Northeast Region Ringette Regionals in Sault Ste. Marie this weekend! These budding ringette stars displayed great sportsmanship on and off the ice, bonded with teammates and made lasting memories.

FUN3 Division

Timmins Ringette Association’s Fun 3 team attended the Northeast Region Ringette Regionals in Sault Ste. Marie this weekend. These young athletes had a great weekend. 
 
They played a series of 3 games over the weekend. 
 
The first game against the Walden Spruce was tough one. Timmins played a defensive game, with Walden taking 12 shots on net in the first period and securing only 2 goals. In the second period Walden scored 4 more goals but Timmins was able to get in one on the board, end in a 6-1 win for Walden.
 
Game 2 was against Greater Sudbury Demore. Timmins kept up the pace with Sudbury and were able to come out on top with a 3-2 win!
 
Game 3 Timmins was against Greater Sudbury Sutcliffe. Sudbury came out strong scoring 3 goals, but Timmins came back fighting scoring 2 goals of their own before the end of the first period. In the second period Timmins started strong leveling out the game with another goal. Sudbury scored another goal which was quickly answered by Timmins equalizing the game once more. In the last 6 minutes of the game, Timmins was unable to hold their own as Sudbury gained 3 more goals coming out with a 7-4 win over Timmins.  
 
These young ringette players didn’t let a loss dampen their spirits. They had a great weekend bonding with fellow teammates, displaying great sportsmanship and having FUN! Great work Tornadoes!

U12B Division

Timmins Ringette Association’s U12B attended the Northeast Region Ringette Regionals in Sault Ste. Marie this weekend. These young athletes had a great weekend. 
 
They played a series of 4 games over the weekend. 
 
The first game against the Walden Malinowski Spruce was tough one. Timmins played a defensive game, but Walden came out on top with a win 7-0.
 
These players didn’t let a tough first game dampen their spirits as they hit the ice for game 2 against Walden Scharf. Timmins fought hard in the first period, leaving everything on the ice. Walden scored the first goal with 12:42 on the clock. Timmins came back and leveled out the game with a goal of their own with 5:02 left in the first. In the second period Timmins was unable to keep up the stamina and Walden was able to score 7 goals coming out with a 8-1 win over Timmins.
 
Game 3 saw Timmins up against Sault Ste. Marie. Timmins played a defensive game, but Sault Ste. Marie came out on top scoring 3 goals in the first and 3 goals in the second, ending with another loss for Timmins 0-6.
 
Game 4 Timmins faced Walden Maalinowski again. Timmins had a rough first period as they worked to shake off their jitters from their loss to this team earlier in the weekend. Walden was able to score 8 goals in the first period. In the second period, Walden scored 3 more goals but Timmins did not give up! They came back scoring a goal with 3:50 on the clock. Walden then got another goal in but Timmins finished strong getting in one more goal with 1:04 remaining in the game ending the game in a loss 12-2.
 
These ringette players didn’t let a tough tournament dampen their spirits. These players kept a smile on their faces all weekend. They showed amazing sportsmanship, enjoyed bonding with their teammates and made their coaches proud. Great work Tornadoes!
 
 

U14B Division

Timmins Ringette Association’s U14B attended the Northeast Region Ringette Regionals in Sault Ste. Marie this weekend where they played a 4 game round robin and come home with Silver!
 
The first game was against the Walden Richer. Walden got in the first goal with 12:35 on the clock. Timmins quickly answered with a goal of their own at 11:32. Walden kept the pressure as they scored their second goal just seconds later with 11:35 on the clock. Timmins came back fighting scoring 2 more goals at 10:28 and 9:22 before Walden was able to get one in with 7:03 remaining in the first. The remainder of the first period was back and forth between teams with neither team securing another goal. Period 2 was more back and forth with both teams playing a tight defensive game, but Timmins was able to score one more goal with 3:01 left in the second. With that Timmins came out of their first game with a win 5-3.  
 
Game 2 Timmins played Walden Rautiainen. Timmins came out strong scoring 3 goal in the first. The second period Timmins kept the pressure scoring another 2 goals before Walden got one of their own with 4:55 remaining. Timmins scored one more goal just seconds later at 4:27 ending the game with another win 6-1.
 
After a great first day, Timmins went into game 3 against Sault Ste. Marie with spirits high. Sault Ste. Marie proved to be a challenge as both teams played a tight defensive game and Sault Ste. Marie scoring the only goal in the first with 8:50 on the clock. In period 2 Sault Ste. Marie scored their second gaol with 7:48 remaining which was quickly answered by Timmins at 7:24. Timmins was unable to keep up the stamina however and Sault Ste. Marie scored 2 more goals ending the game with a loss for Timmins 4-1.
 
Game 4 Timmins went up against Greater Sudbury Russell. Timmins played an offensive game scoring 2 goals in the first period. Timmins kept the pressure scoring another goal with 14:04 on the clock in the second period. Sudbury quickly answered that goal with their first goal of the game at 13:56. Timmins got 2 more goals in before Sudbury was able to get one more with a minute remaining in the game, ending the game with another win for Timmins 5-2. 
 
With a strong round robin, Timmins headed into the semi-finals facing Sault Ste. Marie again. Timmins didn’t let a loss against this team earlier in the weekend get them down, they came back fighting. Timmins played a strong first half scoring 3 goals with 10:43, 5:36, 4:18 on the clock. In the second period both teams played a strong defensive game with no further goals for either side. Timmins took the win 3-0 and heading into the finals. 
 
In the finals, Timmins went head-to-head against our neighbouring association Iroquois Falls. These teams played a tight back and forth game and Iroquois Falls was able to score the first goal of the game with 4:18 remaining in the first. In the second half Timmins was unable to keep up the stamina as Iroquois Falls scored 3 more goal, but Timmins fought until the end, scoring their only game goal with just 0:31 remaining on the clock. And with that Timmins U14B comes home with a Silver Medal at the Northeastern Region Ringette Regionals! Great work Tornadoes!
